Today I was greeted at the front door by my dog with unusually wet feet. The water supply solenoid for the ice tray decided to not turn off properly just after I left the house for four plus hours. Kitchen, living room, and dining room were underwater. My first thought was, ok insurance weasels, now it's claim time. Later, I came to my senses. Has anyone out there had a a rogue appliance trash their house??

Ohhhhhhh Bob, I am so sorry.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't know that USAA would drop you for a claim like that.

It happened to me once but was only a half hour on a tile floor. Four hours?

Our Seacrest house flooded after Ivan, a couple of inches of water (don't ask). All the hardwood on the first floor had to be replaced, among many other issues. Hopefully it will take less than 4 months for the adjuster to find your house.:pissed:

You are right about that. Re-doing plaster ceilings ain't funn. :bang: Actually, I think any kind of water that isn't where it's supposed to be falls under the NO FUNN category, sad to say.

It was like the ending scene in Oceans 11 where the gang slowly walks away fom the fountains....only I wasn't in Vegas, and it was the Maytag, not the fountains.

At least you have your sense of humor still. :D

Busted pipe under the kitchen sink, flooded the kitchen, almost the dining room, and leaked through the floor into the downstairs laundry room--it was like it was raining down there! Mopped it all up and went about our business.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Bob. I certainly can sympathize with you since I once walked into 3" of water on the first floor and the basement was like a rainforest. It was caused by a break in the hose to the washing machine. The machine was not even on when I had left the house (I was gone for about 2 hours). We lost just about everything that was in boxes in the basement. On the first floor the rugs were pulled up and dried out. No furniture was ruined since I was not gone that long. Heaven forbid if I had been on vacation. It has taught me to always be good about turning off the water to the washing machine when vacationing. Good luck with the clean up.
