Reports use the word "leaked" but I am just calling it released. In a slightly shorter form at two hundred and thirty pages is the GOP plan. Let the comparison shopping/analysis begin as it's all about choice, right?

GOP Healthcare Reform Plan

House GOP bill has been scored by CBO (Quotes from The Hill).

House Republicans' healthcare alternative would reduce the federal deficit by almost $70 billion over the next 10 years -- but the proposal would only offer insurance to an additional 3 million Americans, according to a cost analysis of the bill.
Here is a link to the CBO Report

One item from the report that will likely garner attention is...

The GOP's bill could also reduce average premium costs over 10 years, by varying amounts depending on the size of the insurance pool. However, the CBO offers one crucial caveat: Not every American in each insurance category would see a premium decrease. Rather, analysts predict, more cost burden would fall on sicker Americans, or the costs could be hared disparately among states, which means some beneficiaries could see premium increases (while others do not).

This is what we have all been waiting for folks!...

WoW, the Republican Plan will cover just an additional 3 million of the 52 million now without insurance! Huffington Post calculates that would just about cover the uninsured in one state, Texas.

And....REJOICE!!...The Republican Plan will lower the cost of most peoples premiums by, uh, between 3% and 0%. Way to go!!!

You'all feeling the love now? Read the fine print...

so where do you all get those "uninsured" numbers. AC you say 37 million. The article says 52 million . What's the real number of uninsureds in the U.S. or do they just throw those numbers around, the bigger the better. Everytime i read something, it's a different number. :dunno:

The problem is we have no idea how many illegals are in the country...some say 10MM, 15MM and 20MM. When they want the number to sound more catastrophic they throw in the illegals. One of the first times I actually heard a Dem not include them was when President Obama delivered his big HC speech. Regardless, neither plan covers all the uninsured, and whether or not the government can require an American to buy anything (insurance, bread, cars etc.) as is laid out within the (current) context of the constitution is yet to be seen. I believe it was in 2001 when in an interview Obama said there were fundamental flaws within the constitution, so I don't doubt for a moment his desire to ammend the document for redistribution purposes. The only thing that is certain is we have moved away from being the innovative nation we once were. We are simply following in the footsteps of other nations on this important matter. There are so many examples on display for us to look at and realize that the future can only lead to a complete and total government takeover of our health and well being. This is nothing more than a power grab, and a big blue ribbon they can pin on the donkey - bravo dbags. The politics of the day will be the central decision maker in our health and well being. It might sound dandy when the ideology you share is running the show, but the one thing we know for certain is political majorities change. Instead of professionals that dedicate a lifetime working in one field creating policy and procedure, a revolving door of crooked politicians will now be the puppet masters deciding what care your ill mother can or can't receive because of some other govt program that needs funding. Choose not to believe it and walk blindly towards the govt cheese, fine - as they say, a sucker is born every minute. I'm not saying for a second we don't have a problem that needs solving, but any path that could lead to complete govt. run healthcare sucks!

Remarks by the President to a Joint Session of Congress on Health Care | The White House

We are the only democracy -- the only advanced democracy on Earth -- the only wealthy nation -- that allows such hardship for millions of its people. There are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage. In just a two-year period, one in every three Americans goes without health care coverage at some point. And every day, 14,000 Americans lose their coverage. In other words, it can happen to anyone.

====================

There is a big difference in the words "connot get" and "don't have" as many young people elect not to pay for health insurance. You kick out another 9 - 10 million or so illegals, and per the President there are 30 million who cannot get coverage.

House GOP amendment (replacement bill) was defeated but the Democratic bill passed late last night 220-215 with one Republican (Cao-LA) for the bill and 39 Dems against. Here is the Roll Call vote.

Kudos to our Alan Boyd for voting against this bill, joining NW Florida's other Rep, Mr. Miller in a unanimous NO from the Panhandle.

Now maybe the 219 democrats and 1 republican will share with the rest of us mere mortals exactly where the 1.2 Trillion needed to pay for this is coming from.

This is shear insanity. Like a family about to be foreclosed on borrowing money for a new Rolls Royce.:bang::bang::bang:
