RE: "opt-out registration".

Why do they need people's email addresses and all that invasive, registration nonsense in order to opt-out?? And... who really thinks that the folks who are paid to blanket neighborhoods w/ phone books are actually going to creep along address-by-address doing the yes-no-yes-no checklist?

I don't like this *requirement* of: provide a name and valid email address and then we'll send you a password and then you can come back and give US YOUR password and then do a couple more trained animal tricks for us and blah-blah-blah.

Something stinks in Denmark. They DO NOT NEED ALL THIS INFORMATION. ALL they need is a physical address.

It doesn't stop delivery. The only thing I've found that will prevent them from dropping off their books is to be on the street and stop them at your driveway. :cuss: That's why I suggested a petition, if someone will provide me the information, I'll start it.

Since the phone company doesn't even have my correct physical address AND whoever is delivering cannot seem to coordinate delivery to 1) the front door 2) one per house 3) a dry spot .......... giving them my email address won't do a damn thing except get me more spam.

I was considering "no phone book" signs like the "no spray" signs, but I doubt the rocket scientists delivering the books would heed them.

Have you ever seen a petition work? I never have. Not saying it wouldn't... just seems like petitions tend to fall into the dark abyss.

Maybe our cty commissioner's office would step in and make a call? Given that we have so many 2nd homes and empty houses around here it seems like a valid blanket request to help keep the entire area tidier (as well as not 'announcing' vacant homes).

:dunno:

I almost ran down the street just now after the van that threw phonebook garbage in my driveway but I was just getting out of shower and didn't make it in time.

I got not ONE but TWO this time of the exact same thing! It says on the inside,

If you no longer wish to receive this directory please call the following number:
1-800-388-8255 Enter #2 - which I did.

I left only my address but I agree, WHO is going to, on phone book delivery day, be checking some list!

I think a law needs to be passed! I try very hard to minimize my garbage and this stinks.
