Interesting observations from CBS News' Dean Reynolds about the differences behind the scenes in the two campaigns...

(NASHVILLE, TENN.) - After most of the previous 12 months covering Barack Obama's campaign for the presidency, it was interesting, instructive and, well, relaxing to follow John McCain for the last few days. The differences between the two are striking....

This article really rubbed me the wrong way...

It basically says that Mccain's itinerary is slower paced, less dynamic and more predictable- which makes life easier for reporters. The author of the article complains much that Obama's aides don't print up schedules for the media and that they regularly are in the air during the live nightly news so it is difficult to submit content on time for that medium. He finishes with something along the lines of- you treat us badly but what goes around comes around...

All I heard was whining about how Obama's plane isn't as nice, how they don't have a constantly updated minute to minute schedule of events emailed to them each day, and the reporters aren't as coddled as they usually are. Making them turn in their baggage by a certain time, then delays - gee that's only every freakin' group trip I've ever taken!

The sheer audacity of a candidate flying from one place to another during the time Katie Couric is on - it's like he's got other things to do or thinks there is a 24 hour news cycle! ;-)

Sounds like McCain's campaign is better organized and managed and his plane is cleaner and smells better.

You're kidding, right?

I have a feeling you are mistaking-
takes on less, operates like the conventional campaigns of the last quarter century and caters more to traveling media with being better organized/managed (which is exactly what the author of the article hopes readers will do- IMHO)...

I won't dispute the cleanliness or smell of the plane, though...

I like that my candidate is flying on an uncomfortable stinky plane that isn't as nice as his competition's - even though he's a multi-millionaire! Function over comfort and $$$.
