How to bypass tunnel in Mobile?

We are driving down to SoWal from Arkansas tomorrow and someone told us there was a way to bypass the tunnel in Mobile. Can anyone tell me the directions?

I'm not sure on that one...Can you swing through El Dorado?

I used to live in El Dorado. we are about 2 1/2 hours farther away now. It was a much easier drive down to Monroe and hop on the interstate. Now we go through Memphis.

We will be taking the hwy. from Hattisburg to Mobile. I don't have the map in front of me but I can look up what hwy # it is.

We will be on hwy 49S. Someone said you go North on I-10 then take a couple of exits, cross a bridge and bypass the tunnel. They did not remember the exits names or #'s.
