This photographer has been covering the hunt the last few days.

here is his latest post with photo:

Three little ones in search of their mom (June 2015). They were all reunited before nightfall.
In the State of Florida there are many orphaned cubs tonight due to the black bear hunt that started today. A hunt not based on science but based on greed and politics.

The FWC board's chairman works for Gulf Power Company. Most of the board are either lawyers or developers. ZERO environmentalists. The govnuh appoints the board..

This whole affair was despicable and downright embarassing.

Did Rick Scott take the science and mission out of Florida Fish and Wildlife management? I'm shocked our state is so far behind in environmental and conservation practices.

I hope you are not suggesting that Gov. Rick Scott has ever cared one iota about the environment. He has the worst track record in the known world on environmental issues.

Everyone is so upset. You either believe in hunting or you don't. I happen to, and believe and that the FWC is too restrictive on most species in the state. I also personally believe that most "wild" fish or game, especially bear has a much more appealing taste than steroid laced Purdue and farm raised fish. I presume that most here would advocate being a vegetarian?

Let's make it fair for the black bear. All you manly men put your guns down and even it up a little. Knives only and have at it. Maybe the bear can get a taste of steroid laced human arse meat.

Actually, on the gruesome scale, I'd say what a shotgun does to a quail or pheasant is probably more disfiguring than what a rifle shot does to a bear. And I don't know the actual answer, but I'd be curious to know how many of these local bear hunters dress the bear for consumption. I would assume most..

BTW, as I understand it Bob, there are a number of hunters that exclusively hunt bear with knives in central FL. Did you vote for Bush twice?
