My sister & family are in St. Petersburg, my mom & dad are in Lake Placid, my brother is in New Orleans (and was hit last year by Katrina... ) and my youngest brother and family are in SoWal...which ever way the hurricane goes, someone I love will be effected

Yeah. When I was a kid in Catholic school the nuns would have us pray the storm would go elsewhere when there was a hurricane in the gulf. Of course, this was probably going on from Tampa to somewhere in Mexico concurrently...somebody's got to take the hit

Alli that is so true, sadly. And if it is a big hit for Florida, it is going to affect everyone in the state ... again. And the Gulf coast west of Mobile sure doesn't need any more stress and strain.

That may happen. The forecast as of this posting has Ernesto spending a considerable amount of time over Cuba, where the mountainous terrain will surely rip it apart some, degrading it to possible tropical storm strength. However, where it emerges once it leaves Cuba is a concern, because the farther west, the more time it will spend over warm Gulf waters and thus have more time to strengthen before another landfall somewhere over Florida.
