Great variety of oyster dishes and cool outdoor deck, so I'll definitely be back, but absolutely horrible service!

Perhaps they were short handed or the kitchen got backed up. Perhaps someone was having a bad day.

It's all a matter of perception. I was never one for absolutes. ;-)

The staff at Hurricane Oyster Bar are all wonderful, hardworking people who (I believe) do their best to serve us guests in their wonderful home away from home.

The service is occasionally spotty, but I think the food has always been pretty good. Maybe I have yet to find the right place, but I think Hurricane's has the best fish taco going in SOWAL.

There's perception and then there is service that is so bad it is a source of entertainment!

Coming out of lurkerdom to comment on the HOB...

1. LOVE the place! Thank you for feeding us most days!

2. SERVICE has always been perfect....Thanks Heath, James, Rusty, et al...

3. FOOD has always been great and beyond what I expected.

4. FISH TACOS are Fantastic....asked for blackened fish instead of fried.

5. BURGERS are the BEST.

Yesterday (Sunday) Afternoon....Me, Sbartoldus and Cyndi Eastburn pitched a tent and had an art sale at the Shops of Grayton....the guys fron the HOB were MORE than attentive....

THANKS guys!!! You are The Best!!!

For those that have had less than a perfect experience, I want to thank you for your comments as well. We can not fix something that we do not know about. We pride ourselves on having a fun spot for locals with great food, prices, beer, oysters and service. I hate to hear when we have let someone down.
You trust us when you walk in the door to show you a good time and you have so many choices. We always have a manager on the floor or at least in house and try to touch every table, sometimes the manager can't get to every table, but we try.
If at any time you have concern, please let us know. We do not want to make excuses we just want to make you happy.

We are visiting from ATL and went to Hurricanes for the first time yesterday. The service was great, and the food even better. The manager even came out to offer us several alternatives when they ran out of scallops for the St Jack oysters - then threw in a few extra for the inconvience. Atmosphere was good - though I would stay off the deck if you are sensitive to the mosquitos

The combination of food, cost and atmosphere is unbeatable on 30A - we will be back.

I had a great time there the other night. A dozen oysters + Guinness on draft + swapping jokes with the waiters = a recipe for a pretty good night out.
