This forum is Politics and Current Events...Reading the titles for current posts, I am stunned that no one has referencede Ted Kennedy. What is the moral ethos of this group? Do members truly find that Senator Kennedy's medical condition merits no expressions of concern, compasion or empathy? I guess such postings are considered inappropriate. I thought this was the Bible Belt...So compassion is selective...I'll have to remember that. See I was taught that expressions of concern were appropriate responses to tragedy

Ted Kennedy has been referenced with compassion and prayers. There IS a thread. Regardless of party, we Bible Belters are not heartless, whether Ted was referenced on Sowal or not. Hope your day gets better.

Your quote from another thread: "I cannot fathom the thinking that does not reflect the "Judge not lest ye be also judged" christian ethic."
.
Give me a break! Who is doing the judging here? .:dunno:

Jensieblue you already know Ted Kennedy has been referenced, you actually posted in that thread. :dunno:

Please don't judge people for not opening the door for more negative comments or Ted bashing. I believe he has made horrible mistakes in his lifetime. I also believe he has proven himself as a leader dedicated to helping people throughout his career. I respect a great deal of his work for our country. Left or right, good or bad, I hate to see anyone suffer with what is ahead for him. But please don't think because we aren't posting it in such a way that pleases you; that we have no compassion and aren't sorry to see him and his family struggle with this.

Peace to you.

The Bible Belt actually starts north of here, on the AL and GA lines. You can tell by Walton County allowing liquor stores to sell Tequila when they open on Sunday mornings.

As for Ted Kennedy's Health, I know nothing about it other than what Skunky posted on another thread -- something about him having a tumor. That sucks for anyone to have a tumor, but I am not posting things about his health any more or less than I would about a celebrity's. I did once or twice post about Cheryl Crow's health, but she actually owns a place in our area, and could be hanging out on SoWal.com. -- Ted Kennedy won't be reading my comments. Skunky mentioned that Ted was given a death sentence, but the truth is that we are born with a death sentence. We all know that we are going to die, and today may be that day for any one of us. Some of us don't start living until we know when we are supposed to die.

You talk about our lack of empathy for Ted Kennedy. I have yet to read a post regarding the 50,000+ people who recently died in the earthquake, nor the 300,000+ who were injured, and stuck in overly-crowded make-shift emergency facilities. Does that make us bad people? :dunno:

In the interests of giving folks a second chance I occassionally read posts from people on my ignore list in case they've changed or have something helpful to say. Kudos on the consistency!

I wondered myself why we were not discussing this further, but the truth is I know that everyone on this Board, and others throughout the world, know that actions speak louder than words via donations and aid, and that prayers are private.

Jensie, I think you need to stop and think about how fortunate it is, for someone like yourself, to be able to post your thoughts. Sowal is free, and a contribution to society. Many people in this world do not have that freedom. Maybe, you should be thinking more about what have you done to improve the world lately. Judging is fruitless.
