I don't care........

if the water's cold
if the water's hot
if the water's clear
if there's rips
if it's calm
if there's june grass
if it's storming
if there's tourists
if the food at a certain restaurant sucks
if the food at a certain restaurant rocks (well, maybe I might care about this)
if real estate prices are at an all time low
if they're at an all time high
if it's hot as hell

I'm comin' to SoWal in one week!! That's all I freakin' care about!!! :D

I don't care:

If there's traffic (I'll be patient/safe),
or if my car is hot as hell (I'll ride my Harley),
or if Publix has good watermelon (I'll eat mango),
or if I have to work (the weekend is coming, and I live HERE!),
OR

Y'know, DD, that pretty well sums up the way I feel about SoWal. I'm always so glad to be there that everything else is superfluous. I dunno know. SoWal must have some pretty damn fine Karma because I always feel--when I am there--that it's the place I ought to be. No matter about all the things that are on your list. That list doesn't amount to a hill of beans when you look at the total picture that is SoWal.

Exactly the way I feel, Mermy. I don't think it has one flippin' thing to do with the "conditions". I feel like I belong there. Like some kind of "former life" thing. I feel the same way about New England. I think I feel that way about SoWal because of the people...not the stuff...even though I do love the beach, water, etc. I guess it's just the whole package!

"home" is where you hang your hat.....you are only a "tourist" in those places where you feel/act such. It is not the people, nor the "things" that make it so.....it is the sense of "being".....and belonging.

Yes. Sorry this friend won't get to see you in time.

When we used to vacation a week at spring break and a week in the summer at the beach, I'd be disappointed if every day wasn't sunny and warm so that I couldn't go home with a great tan. That's not important to me now.

Now that we have the luxury of being at the beach as often as we please (except for spring and summer rentals and income), we have found the pleasure of rainy days, cool days, and really cold days. On some trips we never even walk to the beach even though it's a one-minute walk -- it's just a pleasure to see the Gulf from the living room and hang out at all of the great restaurants in the 30A area.

Plus we have met so many wonderful people here that have become friends.
