Old Grove
Well I've been lving here in the Old Grove since January and been on the forums since December and figured it was about time I made a proper introduction. My name is Tyler and I've been living in the area for 23 years (minus the five or so years I attended FSU). I grew up in Destin on Crystal Beach, moved to Niceville in high school, and returned there after college for the last 6 years or so. I'm really excited to be down in SoWal though as every time friends or family came to visit this is the first place I'd take them to see. I've realized I go out of town entirely too much on the weekends and hope that the slow paced, laid back lifestyle along 30A keeps me around a little bit more. Maybe some of you have seen me riding around on my FSU beach cruiser, and if you do stop me and say hi. I'm just looking to make some new friends and meet my neighbors. I enjoy fishing, golfing, sports, music, film, and pretty much anything that keeps me moving. One of my best friends has recently moved in with me and we're looking forward to a great summer on the beach. We both play guitar and are trying to figure out the ole keyboard too, so if anyone ever wants to get together for a few beers and a jam session let me know. And if youre passing through Forest St and see a couple wannabe college guys playing guitar on the porch, feel free to stop by and say hey. We keep the fridge well stocked! Anyway, I look forward to meeting everyone and appreciate all the info on the boards. Keep well and we'll see you soon

Blue Mountain Beach
Hi!

:wave:Hi Tyler! Just wanted to welcome you. I've just moved here myself the second of April and love it. I'm trying to meet people also. I live in Blue Mountain Beach but stayed in Segrove for a month in Nov. in Magnolia Cottages. I love music so maybe when I am driving around I'll have to try and find Forest St. and see if ya'll are out on your porch. I too vacationed here and fell in love with the area and needed the calmness of it and was fortunate enough to be able to pick up and move. I hope we get to meet and most of all I hope you enjoy your life here. I was here in Feb. alnd it was pretty cold. That is when I came back to look for a permanent rental and ended up in BMB practically on 30A!!!! Enjoy your day, Brenda

Hi, Tyler (and Brenda)!
I am also new to SoWal. Unlike you [both] however, I spent 2 days in the area a few years ago before moving here to Blue Mountain Beach in late January. Everyone here has been so nice, but good friends are few and far between.
I am thinking a gathering at one of the locals hangouts like Johnny McTighes for new "locals" would be a fun way to introduce ourselves. What do you think?

Thanks for the welcoming everybody! Sorry I missed Pandora's, got a little crazy at the Wine Festival yesterday! I think a weekly meet and greet would be a great idea for those of us new to the forum and area. Its weird being a "new local" cause Destin and Niceville now seem like totally different places very far away. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for a when and where let us know. I think having a bi-weekly meet up night would be fun at a place like Sally's or Shorty's, somewhere central, where folks can come up and put a face with the name so to say.

Hi Mallory! That is a great idea and I'm glad you thought of it. We are neighbors or at least live in the same area. What street are you on? I am on Flounder Street and practically 30A I don't know many people here especially any good friends and would love to meet the new "locals" especially since we probably don't know many people and have much in common from just movng here. Let me know when you are thinking about doing that and I will be there. I am just about done unpacking as much as I can for now and would love to have some down time and meet some new friends. Great idea and if there is any help needed I'd be happy to do so. My phone is (850) 622-3352 if you care to call. Perhaps we can meet up since we live in the same neighborhood?! Look forward to hearing from you. Welcome to BMB also. Have a great day, Brenda :welcome:

Hello to everyone!

J ust wanted to say hi to everyone new on here and hope that we can do a meet and greet as Mallory suggested. Hopefully we can plan it with good advance notice so everyone can make it. I was thinking next weekend or towards the end of the week? I would like to meet people asap since I don't know many people here. Hopefully we can make many new and good friends this way. Mallory if you call me we can talk about some ideas and I can get your number. My cell is (504) 231-5358. I think I only gave you my home. I am from New Orleans so it is a New Orleans area code. MidWal???
A suggestion from a worker bee down in Seaside. Gather at a spot like the tables outside of Modica or Amavita, get a Sowal sticker and slap it on an odd object and sit it in plain site. If you choose Modica come in and say hello! I'm there Tuesday - Saturday and my coffee is real good, I also make a mean cappuccino!
