As for the Daily Show audience, don't you think he is smart enough to stack the audience when negotiating terms with the producers of the show? Of course they would cheer him on. He may look like Gomer Pyle, but he's no dummy.

No, he just did a really good job on the show.

There is a big difference between having a Christian President and having a President who is a Christian (which we have now). Kennedy didn't convert the country to Catholicism, so Huckabee could manage to lead without conversion as well.

He has an ulterior motive. I avoid anybody who wants to amend the constitution to be in line with God's plan as he puts it. I'm not bothered by the fact that he immerses himself in God. That's his personal choice.

This makes complete sense since we know the slant of the media and the likelihood of the spin regarding the fact that he is ordained, yet not necessarily in the pulpit every Sunday.

I don't have a problem with a pastor or minister being President - it all depends on how vocal/nutso they are about it.

For example, I couldn't vote for anyone who has ever had their own religious TV or radio show.

The amendment should read that this is a state matter not a Federal one. Of course we already have the 10th amendment "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." and the Presidents, Congress and Federal Judges of both parties regularly ignor it. So I guess we are going to have to spell it out for them.
