I would LOVE to. just for a year to experience all of NY and its seasons. I could get MORE jeans and sweaters and boots and blankets and BF coats!

with each hot summer, I reallly do want to move further north, or at least spend part of the year in a cooler place.

But by mid March I'm done. Ready for spring and sometimes it takes longer than I had hoped. If I could afford to, I would spend mid Feb through mid march in a temperate climate like Maui.

:lolabove::lolabove: Reverse snow birds.

:lolabove::lolabove: What a picture...you make me chortle!

I like Florida Panhandle Winters. It's a significant enough seasonal change
for wearing my sweater collection & indulge in most of Toot's list of cozies, but NO shoveling required. I do NOT miss shoveling winter!

And I'm at that "time in life" where I can pile more clothes ON...but it's physically impossible to get nekkid enough when a flash ignites!:blush:

PS - Toots I'm Lovin' all your beautiful new tars.

No, we have to shovel in the summer after a hurricane. I'd much rather deal with snow at that point.

well, I hate February period. by then everyone is ready to escape the gloom and cold. I like winter but by Feb. I have had enough and want to leave and not come back until there's some sign of spring here. Matter of fact, that's how I found sowal. No flights anywhere warm out of ny except to sowal. oh, btw, did I say February suks in NY?

Mermy, there's a shovel with your name on it waiting here. anytime, really. :D

Mango...oh my :rotfl:...you can make those gloves with frozen food stuck to them for your gag gift next year!!! Too funny!

I don't get shovels. We dont need them here.:dunno:

I finally "got" gloves and scarves when I spent the month of January at MIT with our daughter. I always thought that gloves and scarves were a fashion accessory until then -- I never realized that they were functional.:yikes:

I prefer fashion accessory.:D

so funny! I LOVE FEB!!! its real hibernation for me. lots of cooking, reading, catching up on movies, puzzles, walks with dog (no yeller flies), catching up with friends, afternoon naps, reading, reading, reading...etc. it's really slow around here. the opposite of summer.

No, I don't like winter. I don't like cold weather. Love spring, love summer best, love fall.....except I know that winter is coming. I love a fireplace, but I can turn on the air conditioner and the fireplace at the same time and enjoy it.

I like to fly into Aspen occasionally just to see the snow, but then I'm ready to get out of it in about three days. I truly don't know how my northern friends can take it day after day for long periods of time. First time I went to Chicago FFF and I flew up in April.....we left the ground in Birmingham it was 83....we landed it was 32. WTH?! I had to buy a coat....and wear it...in the snow....in April!

This is another thread all in itself. I have always wanted to live in New York for one year to experience it all. Maybe we need to have SoWal/NYNY exchange programs? Mango...can you work on that?

I love winter too... I grew up in Illinois and northern Wisconsin, I miss all four seasons...
We have four season here:

Snowbird Season
SpringBreak Season
Family Vacation Season
Conference & HomeOwner Association Season

What else could you ask for?

I'm actually opposed to naturally frozen water.

I believe that all frozen water should be manufactured and located in one of the following locations:

  • Coolers
  • Freezers
  • Blenders
  • My Drink

That's so funny that you say that, because shoveling to me is the best part of winter. I love the snow coming down and shoveling it after. We have a realllllllllllly long driveway and it takes me hours, but I get to be outdoors burning calories and building muscle and breathing fresh crisp air when I shovel. I can't tell you how much I love doing it, even when the snow is heavy. It brings me back to my childhood in New England. You want to see snow? Grow up in New Hampshire. I feel like a kid again when I pick up the shovel. The years slip off my shoulders so gracefully and I'm young again...when I have a snow shovel in my hands.

I've been Kayaking with you, so I know this statement to be true. I grew up near Cleveland "Lake Effect" Ohio.
I handled shoveling snow the way I would like to handle
my Kayaking.
Pay someone to do it for me!:rotfl:

Clever gull, I see you have figured out my game. I can wax rhapsodic about snow in Indiana because it ISN'T like snow in New York or New Hampshire. Heck, I'd be singing a way different tune if I lived on the East Coast again. :roll: :wave:
