My pick is the black and white one, it looks like a baby Border Collie, I am prejudiced!

Puppies are so cute!

I'd go with the gentle trained female. We got our first house dog and first female at one year old and she came well trained. It was a blessing because we probably wouldn't have done as good of job as the previous owner had.
She also may be the one less likely for people to choose, because she isn't a puppy. Just something to think about while your out there falling in love with them all! :D

Good luck! It will be a lucky dog whichever one gets you for an owner.

.
That was my rationale. Heard she is sweet as pie and gentle. Needs some fattening up, though. They mentioned she was underweight. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words.

Puggles are really cute as puppies, but I have never seen a grown one that was particularly attractive...:dunno:

I' hear ya. I looked up grown rescues and some are funky looking. Not sure they should have messed with that combo. They remind me of the dog from men in black that talks. :rotfl:
Not sure I could have one --afraid it might start speaking to me.

They are all precious, and I would have a hard time deciding. However, I do think my decision would be the older one. God bless you Mangy whatever you decide.

I don't think they will split the labs up, though, and I am not ready for 2 dogs.

The puggle is cute, the black and white is adorable, but I worry about nipping with Jack Russells. So, confused. :dunno:

I guess I have to meet them and see our if personalities gel.

wow! so glad you and MANgo are looking for a pup. you're going to so love it. Two labs = a lot of work and a lot of love. When I picked Lulu out of a litter of yellow labs, I wanted her sister too because they were identical. But, I just picked one. In some ways, it was best to focus on just one (Lulu) and give her all the love. In other ways, I would look back and wish for her sister so they could be pals together forever. They are giant, and two giants would be signficant work, but I think I could go for it given enough room in and out of the house. Big drawback would be travel with two giants. I think you would just leave them at home with someone to look after them. But, travel with Lulu was always so fun.

you are making me excited about my next baby pup. I love the idea of adopting an adult dog in need of a home, but the baby puppy part is too important to me to miss (its such a sweet time, and they learn so easily). maybe I can do both some day.

I recommend two books for learning about training and loving a dog. They are lovely, and the lessons are so important to knowing how to best care for your dog. I learned a lot from the Monks of New Skete. . Their methods are gentle and loving and they see dogs as part of your family, not part of your yard.

The Art of Raising a Puppy
How to be Your Dog's Best Friend

Thanks for the book tips, Toots. A good friend of mine is friends with Sarah Wilson and she has written a book called, "My Smart Puppy". You can get it at Borders, Dalton or Amazon. She currently blogs for Amazon and has been in Oprah Magazine. She used my girlfriends Shepard in a video. I heard her book is one of the best. But, it's good to read various opinions. I got the book and will be reading it so I will be prepared from day one, if we adopt. I think if more people truly understood what they were getting into or how to prevent and stop behaviors, there would be a lot less pets up for adoption. Pets really do aim to please, they just need guidance and training sometimes. Maybe I can get her to come blog on Sowal so we can pick her brain.

I hope y'all get a puppy when you're ready.

We really would like a dog, but still have reservations and I think our cat will be miserable.
Like I said, if the right dog speaks to us, we will take the leap.

1. the cat will be miserable but will adapt. to an extent.
2. can't wait to see which dog adopts you!
3. as long as you educate yourself well on raising pups you'll love it and your dog will be a wonderful addition to your family. typically, we see problems with dogs when owners have not equipped themselves. almost every bad habit and behavior we see in dogs is something the owner has taught, unknowingly, all because they are not prepared owners! I find it hard to understand when a dog is not completely housebroken and very early - its almost never the dog's fault. and its sad that no one has taken him seriously enough to give him this basic skill. obviously, you are taking this seriously and willing to do the work. meaning it will be a happy experience for you and doggie!

I would choose the older one. It is very difficult for them to get adopted. Plus they are already beyond the house training and tearing up things stage. But thanks for the cute puppy pics Mango. I got my puppy fix big time seeing these cute faces. But I am partial to labs, but all of these are cute.
