We always got mixed nuts, an orange, candy canes, handwarmers, chapstick, and a variety of tiny presents like ornaments, magazine subscriptions, jewelry, mini puzzles or handheld travel games in our stockings.

Tootsie and dbuck, are you related to my parents? What's up with the toothbrush stocking stuffers? Maybe you should also consider stuffing some oranges into the stockings, too. My parents did. We also had some funn stuff do, but the oranges were great filler.

Scratch and (maybe) Win lottery tickets could be a funn stuffer, but they don't take up much room. If your dog is tempted by food, be careful about putting chocolates in the stockings. If I did that, I would have one sick dog on Christmas morning, and I would need to make new stockings for next year.

I live in conservative Alabama SJ, we don't have a lottery. :bang: And I sure wasn't driving to TN or GA to get them. All is well though. Stockings are stuffed. I did forget the oranges though. :bang:

Stocking stuffers are so funn! Girls are a lot easier b/c you can do make up, perfume, jewelry..Sam has lots of little presents like that and her stocking is smaller than Dylan's.

At CVS I found these little champagne bottles made of chocolate...so cute...Santa's coal gum, pez, & life saver gummy candy books. When I was little we always used to get Lifesaver books...loved those. My mom always added fruit to fill up our stockings too Toots and I always get them new toothbrushes!

More ideas for boys/men...video games, gift cards, memory cards, cologne or aftershave, lotion, shave cream, fast food gc, gas card, ??

Good luck KD!!!

I loved those Lifesave books!! Do they still make them. Thank you OL for all the great suggestions.

Dont' forget the flip flops!!!!!! :D

I bought me the cutest Flip Flop air freshener for my van today!!! It made me think of SoWal.

I'm probably too late, but I put candy in all the kids' stockings, and my 14-year-old boy is getting an iTunes card in there and some Axe spray (I chose the scent based on the design and colors on the bottle, of course). I bought great stocking stuffer candy at Walgreen's; our Target was cleaned out ages ago.

Guess what Percy.....I got an iTunes card, Axe Spray, and candy from Walgreens...all before I even read this. Great minds think alike. I did base the Axe on the color of the can.

Thank you ALL for your suggestions. The two men in my house are going to have fresh breath if nothing else....toothbrushes, Listerine strips, Breath spray, flossers, after they eat all the candy these are going to come in handy!!!! I hope they don't think I am trying to tell them something. :D

Merry, Merry Christmas to each and all of you. Much love from 'BAMA!!!!!

Stockings are another funny memory from my house. My mother was really inconsistent about filling them, so we didn't really bother to look in them. Sometimes she would start to take down decorations in January and realize that she had filled them and no one had noticed...

I love my family!

:rotfl:...candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker!

For the grown up that is......

And don't think those chocolate miniature liqueurs are harmless! I ate nearly a whole box along with a bottle (or two) of cabernet several years ago and was sick as a dog new years day:funn:

Talking about Christmas stockings ....... Mr. dbuck once asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him if it will fit inside the Christmas stocking then I would probably like it. Sometimes we girls do like what comes in a "small box." ............ Sorry Skunky, couldn't help but think of you. :rotfl:
:dunno: I'm not sure if this post is supposed to be a reference to diamonds, or that Justin Timberlake song about Richard in a box.

 Diamonds, a watch, a bracelet, a necklace, perfume, or money ...... all would fit nicely in a Christmas stocking. :D

I dont think Skunky will ever live this one down....:funn:

hope everyones stockings were stuffed to overflowing this morning! mine was!!!

my parents have told me the story of christmas when they were small children. it was so much different back in the 40s or so. their stocking was basically their gift, and most of it consisted of fruit, nuts and candy. a new pair of shoes or something you really needed (soap, socks, etc), and maybe a small doll or toy. ahhhh, those were truly the days...
