Golden Retrievers are wonderful but they shed and I HATE to vaccuum.

Best thing about GOLDENDOODLES are they don't shed. You get the best of the Golden and the Poodle. Do a search or check out this link: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/abc.htm
also for rescue check out:http://www.poomixrescue.com/dog_types.html
you can also see my photos for a couple pics of our doodle "Cooper"

:lolabove: i  the picture on the loveseat! that is hilarious!

Labs shed and chew, and chew, and will chew up everything you own, and don't slow down on the chewing until they are three or so, but are VERY sweet and VERY loyal. Need a big fenced yard, though. They need to be able to run. And run. And stop and chew up something, and run some more.

Or maybe my Daisy is just high-strung?

No, SN, your Daisy is not high-strung. My Maggie will be three in May and has almost stopped chewing. She too requires a lot of walking, running, and exercise, which sadly, most nights, I'm too tired to take her. mr. dd does a good job of stepping in for me though. But, you are right, she is sooooooooo sweet and loyal. Now if I could just buy a freakin' truck load of those pet hair rollers with the sticky paper stuff on them!!! :bang:

i have no intention of getting another dog, but if i ever did, the bichon frise is awfully cute, along with they ****zu and the pekingese !

I like bichons as well...I have 2! They are smart, entertaining and very loving. They do not like being left alone and are pretty high maintanence if you keep them groomed. I inherited my first, Maggie, and she was perfect.

Whatever you choose will be great! True unconditional love. ..my hubby says that they are the only ones who greet him when he comes home with their tail wagging!:funn:

Good thing you didn't have a tail after that Barcardi 151 incident. :rotfl:

YES! Five (5)!!!!!!!!! That is a mighty small dog to have 5 puppies! They are gorgeous! I need one! But...poor little Sweetie (in my picture) is 9 years old and am afraid she woud wig out! They are the sweetest, smartest, best dogs ever. They do not shed, thier hair grows like a persons and has to be cut...it does not fall out. If you want a lap dog, that does not bark....this is it!

Now this is a FUNN thread! Yes, Whiteyfunn, I do have babies....5! Today three opened their eyes.:clap_1:   I worked to get them on my avitar tonight late... and another in this post but it just wasn't happening. Maybe tomorrow:dunno:

They are Shih Tzu...pronounced "Sheed Zoo"...or as we've all heard a few other charming names :rotfl: Everyone has their own breed that they love, that fits their personality, lifestyle, and about 100 hundred other reasons.

I have had many breeds since childhood and quite a few shelter dogs that were as good as gold. My father was a breeder of Beagles and Wiemereiners. I love all breeds....and at different times in my life it seems a certain breed was just right.

I don't want to make this long....just take your time. Ask yourself what YOU are looking for in a companion, because that is what they are. Ask others why they like the breed they have. Since you work it might be best to have two...yes, I said two. Dogs do not like to be alone....and they will let you know it.

It took me two years of researching and looking into different breeders before I bought mine. I liked that their hair is like human hair and sheds VERY little. They are not barkers...unless they learn it from a dog you may already have that barks. And they have so much love to give....more then any dog I've ever owned.

In the past two years I've acquired three....they are like potato chips....you cannot have just one!!! My eldest daughter loved one of mine so much (he's the father) that I let him go live with her and her 6year old twins. So I have the mother (champagne color) and a Chinese Imperial Shih Tzu (gold with black mask) who weighs 4.2 pounds. I picked him up in New Orleans and he's my baby. Named him "MoJo" Cast a Spell on Me.

So much for dogs right now...this Kat needs to go to bed. Good Luck! I'll post my adult dogs pictures tomorrow.
