I certainly couldn't tell this weekend!! Cheap gas, lots of filler-uppers. Stores packed. Lots of big sacks and boxes being carried out. Long lines. Lots of traffic. I think everyone got started shopping yesterday since it was cold and windy. Today, it was beautiful, so I don't know what the reason was today. But if this weekend in Texas was any indication, I don't think the retailers have much to worry about!

Just hope the shoppers are spending cash and not running up the credit cards:blink:

Wow!

Shoppers were pretty busy down here too. I think it's the great deals, plus people may be planning more ahead for Christmas to take advantage of those deals.

Mr. K and I laughed our bottoms off in the car today. We read the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book to one another. When we hit Dallas, it went in the recycle can. :D

:rotfl: Believe it or not, even Neiman's is getting into the big-sale game. I don't shop there often, but I needed some new clothes, and found a few shirts there this weekend that fit great AND were 65-70 percent off! I heart their Last Call Clearance, but even the regular sales discounts seem to be pretty steep.

Punzy's favorite Tampa mall was absolutely packed on Saturday, even though the Bulls were playing (losing) right next door. My mother's theory was that everyone was running up their cards before filing for bankruptcy.

Shoppers were out in full force in Chicago this weekend also. I had a had time walking through the crowds of people. It was nuts in Watertower, Macy's, Filene's, ....though a little quiet at Yves S. Laurent.

...good job, I love a deal. You are right though, the high end stores are going to be having lots of sales. The thing about the NM Christmas Book is it is always outrageous, but this year it is really out there. I think when I get back to some kind of normal around here, I will take a trip over to Northpark and check out the crowds for y'all. :D

Your mother's theory scares me.

skunky, no worries about people charging it. People are maxed out on credit cards. Walmart will make its numbers, but no one else.

Geoffrey Beene at the outlets is running a really good sale right now as they are closing Jan 1. I was able to get my wrinkle free khaki pants for $12. They are regularly $39.99.

I saw that Victoria's Secret was showcasing a $5 million bra. If they were really smart, they would have engineered a $9.99 bra and advertised it like they advertise the diamond-encrusted Christmas bra every year. Some companies don't seem to get it.
