Just to let anyone who may be thinking of quitting smoking....chantix really works well. There are some small side effects that I have personally experienced (weird dreams, slight nausia at first) but I think it's worth the end result. After about 7 days, the desire to smoke is almost non existent and the taste of a cigarette is dreadful. I know that most insurances don't cover it but if you happen to be on BC/BS, they cover it 100%, check it out. It was time for me and mine to quit and hopefully someone reading this will get the motivation to quit as well....good luck.

I'm happy for you but I heard on NPR that Chantix moved quickly into first place on the FDA's list of drugs with serious side effects. If the FDA says it's serious then you have to think it's pretty serious. I've seen mention of erratic behavior and suicide. Be careful! Although smoking has serious side effects and is technically suicide as well.

As a former successful chantix user, I recommend it. I have heard of the side effects, but as a 30 year tobacco user and a my mother who was 66 when she quit says it works without any side effects. I used it for 6 weeks total and the last 2 weeks was without tobacco.

You're right Kurt, I looked it up....interesting. Now that you mentioned it I do remember hearing something about that. I haven't experienced anything like what they mention in the advisory but will keep an eye on it, who knows, maybe it will make me "better" in the head!!! Thanks for the info! Here's the link if anyone else is interested....I still am a supporter though, even if it is the lesser of two evils.

Someone else was telling me about quitting w/ Chantix. He has crazy dreams too, but is also successfully quitting. Glad you are kicking such a nasty and unhealthy habit!

...congrats!

I LOVED the wild dreams on Chantix! It really helped me cut down! I think I could have done it, but by third week I had to quit the Chantix because of stomach issues. :sosad:

I might have to schedule surgery to quit. :D
