It is certainly a sad state of affairs when a country that was founded on the freedom of speech and other freedoms of course becomes so soft skinned. People love to make historical references but naturally the soft skinned among us would never had lasted any days in this country's history. If one is so offended by the comments of a washed up skeleton shock jock how would they have handled the intense racial plagues of our past. Anyone who believes that highly educated and incredibly athletic young women are scarred by Don Imus' comments is an absolute fool. The one person who gets a pass in this whole nonsense is the one who has scarred blacks the most. And his name is Al Sharpton.... who sadly makes his living off the oppression of his own race. For someone with the racist past of AL Sharpton to have an old man removed from the radio is absolutely ridiculous. If all you people who go around every day trying to be offended would actually consider what the true issues are in our lives, our lives would be so much better. The reason for this is we would save so many trees by not having to use so much tissue paper and diapers.

Imus was bounced because the ad money evaporated when the advertisers ran. Jackson and Sharpton have rightly figured the way to do things is to spook the advertisers. The argument that both men are morally lacking could apply to most anyone. Don Imus was depositing into the bad karma account far too long to skate this.

nappy pleeze. intense racial plagues have only started to recede because of the hard work of many civil rights leaders and activists, including the Reverends. no, they are not perfect. yes, they are each very strong in their personalities and convictions. and yes, they have made a huge difference in the lives of African Americans. like them or not.

Imus doesn't even deserve a mention. He has done little for anyone as far as I know.

maybe it would have been better to call them snappy headed ho's. it has a better ring to it and doesn't imply that someone is inferior because of the curl content of their hair. i'm not sure a group of six foot five black women needs any help defending thereselves or their hair.

Exactly.
Money talks, and the networks could no longer provide a forum for Imus' "humor," (which they had happily done for many years.)
I don't know if Imus can continue his career in any way, but his camp for kids might survive.
I think that a lot of good has come from this still-evolving situation; probably everyone, including Jackson and Sharpton, has learned something.

Players spitting on umpires ... a basketball ref challenging an NBA player to fight ... rappers ... politicians who stop at nothing to discredit another ... a student shoots 32 classmates ... "F" The President bumper stickers ... Kid Rock ... Don Imus, a pathetic offender who apparently died years ago but never realized it ... "Please" and "Thank you" non-existent ... what next?

Whatever happened, my friends, to decency, civility and class?
