My sister always says that if you see her on the side of the road, picking up aluminum cans, you'll know she's trying to come up with the cost of a manicure...

For me....beer, and a little dining out. Happy that we have more reasonably-priced options now, like Shorty's (and hopefully Ballyhoo, when we try that), because sometimes it's just about having a pleasant person bring me food and a drink, and clean up the table after. It's not always about a gourmet experience.

Beer. Any flavor

Roilling Rock if memory serves correctly.

Move the decimal point over and that's the cost of my usual haircut plus the jorts I just bought (I splurged because SWGB took us on a trip to PCB).

Yep, took scooterbug out on the yacht and she showed up in jorts. Luckily the dock master was too concerned with figuring out how the couples were paired up. I'm pretty sure she never figured that one out.

Okay, color me clueless, but what are "jorts"?

Always have money for good groceries, love to cook and eat. Gotta have the hairs cut, but wow, I think I spend less than $600 in a year. ANd I thought I was extravagant! (Well, look what I'm comparing to -- Hub and sons use dog clippers for their hairdos, so their cost is about 5 cents per do.)

Seems I am spending MORE on gardening than usual -- I think this is part of a trend, around learning to grow one's own food and move closer towards self sufficiency. That, and wanting know how my food is grown (organic, no chemicals, no GMOs, and creating food and shelter for wildlife while we're at it, etc.)

I WOULD have money for some new clothes if I could find any that I like and want to buy, but have not cared for the styles the last few years and choose only to support with my dollars products that I really really like and believe in. So I buy gently used old stuff at the thrift shops and spend the savings...on beer!

Hmmm

$15 bottles of wine for my sanity
Takeout for my sanity
(Friday night is Sanity Night! YAAAY!)

Fresh fruit and veggies so on every other day, I can say I treat my kids well. :D

I hate getting all done up at the salon with the exception of maintance highlights to keep that youthful look. Cost is about the same as a circa 1992 Bill Clinton haircut-on-a-plane. (this reference is a sign I am not actually youthful. :rotfl:)

Oh, and, if I wasn't clumsy, I'd buy a porcelain knife, but am ascared I'll drop it and shatter it...

I have several Kyocera ceramic knives. I've dropped one a couple times, but they are tough. ABout the only way you can damage them is to dig at something with the very tip.

I have the 7" chef's knife and a 5" slicing knife. They are the bomb!

ice cream cones:clap:
Amen, sistah. Ice cream has gone up, too. The cartons are smaller and the price is higher.

Well, I spent $631.30 for cut/color/straightening/tips yesterday. Of course, the only clothes I've bought this year is a pair of jorts for the soiree which I was unable to attend.

Great Cod almighty! I think that even John Edwards would blush about that!

Hey NoHo- are you finished with the huge "list of major accomplishments to be accomplished in a small amount of time?" Or are you still buried?

My list of major accomplishements is so small that it could fit into the belly button of a Barbie doll, and there would still be room left over for three Milk Duds and a peanut!
