Right here!
Just rented this last night on XBox Live. I was expecting a silly comedy (like Running with Scissors) but was pleasantly surprised to find the film was something entirely different and unexpected. Tarantino did an excellent job on this, I really enjoyed it. Highly reccomended.

Inglourious Basterds is a 2009 war film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and released in August 2009 by The Weinstein Company and Universal Studios. The film, set in German-occupied France, tells the story of two plots to assassinate the Nazi political leadership, one planned by a young French Jewish cinema proprietress, the other by a team of American soldiers called the "Basterds".

Tarantino has said that despite being a war film, Inglourious Basterds is a "spaghetti western but with World War II iconography". In addition to spaghetti westerns, the film also pays homage to the World War II "macaroni combat" sub-genre (itself heavily influenced by spaghetti-westerns).

Inglourious Basterds was accepted into the main selection at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival in competition for the prestigious Palme d'Or and had its world premiere there in May. It was the only U.S. film to win an award at Cannes that year, earning a Best Actor award for Christoph Waltz. It also has been nominated in four categories in the 67th Golden Globe Awards: Best Picture ? Drama, Best Director for Quentin Tarantino, Best Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino and Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture for Christoph Waltz.

Great film- Tarantino is a sick, twisted dude, and it had all his touches, but he took a potentially serious and political subject and interjected it with comedy that worked. I think this was his best film and will be his masterpiece. It was brilliant.
(P.S. - you could almost miss it- but Mike Meyers has a small cameo part)

Lots of gore? I don't do gore, and Mr. C wants to see it. How many times will I have to cover my eyes?

The previews are misleading, it's not about a bunch of guys running around gunning down nazis. In fact, the main characters and primary plot aren't covered in the previews. Kinda weird, it's like they were just trying to sell it the only way they knew how. Not much gore really, where there is violence it tends to be brief. No sex or nudity either. :D

The only things that kept it from being a "perfect" movie.:D
