BTW, that comment about the last hurricane being years ago plays two ways.

One, many insurers left as their surplus (read profits) were drying up. Many are still building their "reserves" even after all those payouts.

Two, we're overdue. That won't exactly lure insurance agencies back when their actuaries start telling them the chances are almost 100% and a huge payout after collecting a very short amount of premiums is almost certain won't exactly lure them back either.

I'll say it again since you might have missed it in the last post:

What you are asking to do is what you normally describe as socialism or over reaching by the government. Get over and admit to the hypocrisy and I might give a damn that you can't find insurance.

May I suggest you carefully re-read the post! I am well aware USAA is a private company. They needed to have approval from the state of Florida to raise their premium. Crist would not discuss that necessity with them. Have I used words small enough for you to understand?

May I suggest you do a little research on your own instead of buying into campaign BS.

The governor of Florida doesn't determine whether or not an insurance company can raise their rates.

Also, what is Mr. Scott's plan? Clearly that was the intention of slamming Christ in the first place.

Neither the governor nor the legislature can do much of anything about the insurance situation. The fact is that Florida is extremely vulnerable to hurricanes and insurers don't want to buy into certain losses. Citizens has been poorly run and Governor Scott has stated that he'd like to do away with it. It appears that the legislature has started the process. I'm just glad I don't still have a condo near the coast.

My source was a USAA employee. What's yours? I'm not so stupid as to not understand the governor does not set or make insurance rates in Florida. Nor does the legislature, either. It was suppose to be a discussion to see what might be accomplished in the area of premiums. Charlie Crist was a disaster as a Republican governor. He would be just as bad as a Democrat.

I'll ask again, what is Rick Scott's solution? So far all he's done is begin to dismantle the insurance company that most Floridian's use. Once that's gone are we to just self insure?

If I remember correctly, Crist was going to "make" the insurance companies adjust their rates down. Instead the companies quit writing business in Florida. Crist is an ambulance chaser and Florida has the dubious distinction being #1 in the nation for insurance fraud (with the aid of shyster lawyers). I'll bet your car insurance premiums have risen too.

I wonder which CEO caused over a billion dollars worth of that insurance fraud?

Charlie Christ is no god send in my book, but the evil is pretty obvious in this choice.
