i try to make sure my phone is locked always, but sometimes i do forget and i'll see all kinds of numbers that had been dialed, but never 911. wth!?! embarrassing. oh it might help to know that my phone was in my pocket.

I do that all the time in my purse, for some reason if I lock mine I can never get it unlocked fast enough to answer it, I need a new one. :bang: But I am on this very frugal mindset and I hate buying anything right now. My computer is busted too and I am using a hand me down.

A friend met another friend for lunch one day. My friend's cell phone must have shifted in her purse and it dialed me. She and her friend discussed the wonderful sex they had the night before. It was disgusting. I listened for twenty minutes and hung up!

We're thinking of eliminating our land line, but occasionally need to send/receive faxes, and don't want to leave the house to do that. How does internet faxing work? What does is cost? Anyone regret giving up their land line? I know in case of a protracted power outage a land line is good to have, but we'd certainly LEAVE in event of a major storm, so I'm not sure that would be an issue.

Thanks for your input.

I'm ready to ditch any and all land lines too. I haven't had a single case in over 10 years that I can say "I needed that land line". except right now its our only source of high speed internet available in these boonies. I hardly ever use it for voice/phone though (its a terrible static connection due to internet I suppose - filters haven't helped). faxes are very infrequent. everyone seems to email instead. I remain stuck in the boonies with 2 land lines for now - both practically unusable for voice. wireless and satellite internet were very poor internet sources when we tried them here.

love my satellite TV but satellite internet was slow and unreliable. no reliable wireless alternatives right now, at least on this side Pt Wash.

You should be able to transition from a fax to email only w/ pdfs pretty easily. I rarely fax anything anymore - just make a pdf of everything.
