Watch Out For Flooding Today, High Surf Today and Tomorrow

It may be early and may be classified weak, but I think we are going to get hit by some torrential downpours, dangerous lightening and strong winds in just a few minutes. Everyone should take a look at their radar and be aware. Maybe Miss Kitty can post a radar update here for us like she's done in the past. Made it easy for me to check. With all this rain, flooding in streets will occur. Heard already about trouble spots on 30A. Drive with caution. Also, surf is very high today. Even if the sun comes out later today and tomorrow, be careful. It is usually the day after a storm that we see more people get in trouble. What an unusual name for this storm. Tell us more about that.

"Invest" is short for Area of Investigation, usually an area of low pressure. They are numbered in order from 90 to 99, and then it goes back to 90 again. An invest is something the hurricane center is keeping an eye on, essentially, for tropical development. Next comes a depression followed by a storm. This one won't get beyond the invest stage, due to coming ashore before it can really get going. Sometimes when the tropics are really cooking one or more stages get skipped, and we might go directly from an innocent looking blob of showers to a full-fledged storm.
I think Atlantic invests usually have an "L" as in 90L, because the same strange numbering system is used in all the oceans, with a letter to identify the ocean.
