how long has advertising been allowed in the dune lakes?

there is a huge property "for sale" sign in dune allen lake that looks pretty tacky (far worse than any blue sign could ever look)

if this has already been brought up, i apologize, but i thought it was worth mentioning.

Re: question for some of you gurus....

I assume you're talking about the white and red sign that is about to be washed away by high water (fingers crossed in hope ;-)).

It's ugly, but not that much more so than the many "for sale" or "for rent" signs that have been dubbed "florida daisies".

If I could get rid of/have design influence on that, I would!

The legalities I leave to the more informed members. :D

Call 622-0000 on Tuesday and ask code enforcement if it is legal. If not, file a complaint so they can get the owner to bring it into compliance. Current policy is for code enforcement to react to complaints.

I've not read of such an ordinance making it illegal, as long as it's on private property. Covenants and restrictions may come into play with some properties, but not that one.
If you don't like it, I think you should call Mr Eimers (I think it is his listing), and voice your objection. I'm sure that he'll get a kick out of it! lol.

I do have some expierence with the State of South Walton Code Enforcement. Investigations are 100% complaint driven, per Kevin, Code Enforcement Head. I doubt if the sign is in code due to its size. When it involves the scenic corridor, property rights do not matter, ask Dave's Mirrors, I'll stop by and talk to C.E.today. Also about the Political signs still left to litter our fake scenic corridor. If it is not code they have 5 days to investigate and contact the property owner, not counting weekends, they don't work Sat.or Sun. That is why all the illegal produce vending gangs from out of town set up stands on 98 on weekends.
They do react to complaints in a timley manner, last complaint I filed with Code Enforcement was against Code Enforcement for not having the 911 emergency address on the Code Enforcement trailer. They fixed it pretty quick. BTW, I'm glad the produce vendors set up on 98 on weekends.
I'll let you know what they say.

Stan, I think the subject sign is on the north side of the Lake, rather than on the Scenic corridor.
