Did you rule out the State Park? The cabins are very clean, 2 BR, updated appliances, screen porch - a great deal and they used to have only a 2 night minimum. I doubt that they would disappoint unless you had to have TV which they don't have.

.

I guess I have, sort of. For some reason I get the idea they might not be air conditioned! These 2 days are at the beginning of our trip to take the boy to college and we'll be moving him in 100+ degree temps so we want to actually try to be rested! However, these cabins sound delightful and may be an option for Mr. JR and me at a later date. ;-) I seem to remember kathydwells staying here and posting pix a long time ago. It is a beautiful area.

If cost isn't an issue, PM me and I can give you a couple options. One of the things that's challenging with a two-night rental, at least for us, is that on top of the rental rate, we have to purchase an $85 damage waiver policy (we eat this cost on a 7-night rental), $55-$85 cleaning fee (regardless of # of nights), 11% FL tax, and a % to our local management company. For a 7-night stay, these costs are spread out, but can get expensive for the renter if it's just for two nights. This is why a hotel room sometimes works out more efficiently on a short-term rental.

But again, if cost isn't an issue, let me know and we can see what we can work out!

Yes, I can certainly understand the reasoning behind the 3 day minimum now. I didn't at first when I began my quest yesterday. This must be so hard for those trying to fill out their rentals.

I think I may have one or 2 hotels lined up (in Destin). Thanks!

I'm sure you've already thought of this, but have you checked availability at Sandestin? They have at least one, if not two, hotels and have a bunch of condos that they probably treat more like a hotel. I stayed at Sandestin about 5 years ago, before we bought property in Sowal, and it was a great place to stay.

Yes they are air conditioned. "Cabins" is a misnomer. They are Florida Cottages - built to represent traditional cottages.

Have you tried the Sandestin Hilton?

Yes, I finally did. But I've read some very marginal reviews on Tripadvisor. But I think we've found a cottage at Seagrove Villas. Originally, the website had conflicting info stating they had a 3 night minimum & on another page, no minimum. But I was later told that was a typo. So it's all ok.

Thanks to everyone for your advise!

Sandestin offers less than 3 nights at the Bayside, also at the Hilton.

the best hotel in the area is Courtyard by Marriot and they offer the Residence Inn. Also Gulf Place will offer one night rentals closer to arrival date.

Also you can find nightly rentals from Watersound through expedia and Travelocity.

I never thought of checking expedia, et al. I'm having great luck! Thanks, Minnie!:clap::clap::clap:
