Aw, shoot. :D

Sorry, NoHall. I have told you this before...save all the details for the second date. I think this almost full disclosure thing jinxes the dating game.

 Snakebit. The gun range was closed, and Mr. Nofunn decided to grade papers tonight instead. I couldn't make this up if I tried--I seriously was not quite as interesting as work that didn't need to be done until Tuesday. I hope he's thanking whatever god he has that I DON'T know how to use a gun right now. I painted my toenails for this.

I went to my school's football game and ran into one of my students who lives a few miles from me. His parents regularly invite the faculty out to their farm to shoot. In addition to what Mr. Nofunn offered me, they have 50-caliber machine guns, M-20s, a tank (yes, a tank,) and they make their own dynamite. Their gun room (which is the size of most folks' living rooms) requires a handprint passkey to get in, and if the alarm goes off the local SWAT team gets a direct alert. My student's dad invited me to come next weekend. I don't know if I'll invite my new "friend" or not.

Seagrovegirl, that siggy you borrowed has been on my mind a lot today!

Mr. Nofunn is an inconsiderate jerk! INHO, I would not invite him to the arsenal next week unless you plan to scare the _______ out of him. Guess you will see what a real man he is then!

Has Nofunn suggested another "get together"?

Sorry you have to deal with being kinda stood up, it sucks. Just don't doubt yourself, keep smiling and keep your chin up. There are some really nice men out there, but you have to weed out a few to find him. I found one about two months ago, but keeping it to myself for now,(champaigne and flowers every weekend) but if he screws up, I will let you know. I don't think he knows about the "Got Stood Up" thread.....poor guy just has no clue what kind of trouble he will be in if he plays with my heart!

Keep the toenail polish on!

You are absolutely NOT ALLOWED to invite Mr Nofunn to the farm. (I actually a little worried about you going, too --- what kind of people make thier own dynamite? Please tell me that they are in the building demolition business) I digress. Anyway, guys are most interested in girls that are having fun on their own. So, go have funn without him but then tell him all about it.

That's my advice, anyway.

Waaaaaaaaaaa!

Well, that answers the question as to why such a great guy is single..........He went from exciting unique date to "grading papers". WTF! Don't you DARE invite him to anything - he has some groveling to do before he can even begin to aspire to "just someone to eat barbeque with."

Miss Kitty is right - the more excited you get about a guy/date and the more details you share, the more likely it is to go up sheet creek.

So sorry Nohall - I was really rooting for you! (And hoping he had a brother or cousin for me).

Yeah, you and I have had this discussion before. Me and my BFF were talking about that a couple of days ago, and then she admitted that it's almost as easy to not talk about it as it is to stop a freight train. Also, part of me balks at keeping it COMPLETELY hush-hush. I like to be able to bounce stuff off my peeps, and am one of those rare individuals who would rather be warned than blindsided. I kept the last one a secret and didn't know for several months that he was completely crazy.

I'm also a strong believer that if I can laugh at myself I'll never cease to be amused. I'd rather have a few friends to laugh WITH me if/when things go bad than going home alone to lick my wounds in silence. That would have REALLY sucked.

However, I only told y'all about a quarter of it...;-)

No future plans at this point. More on that below. Toenails still sassy.

Let us know if the posse needs to come after the new guy. Meanwhile, here's hoping that there are actually a couple of good ones out there and you've found one!

Something like that...:D I believe I'll be very, very busy this week without him!

They're actually GREAT people with a lot of weapons. They've lived in this area for many, many years. When I was a kid, my best friend lived on an adjoining farm. Sounds scary, but they're really very safe.

You're right about the having funn on my own--read on...

I went to visit with the department chair/his boss/my friend/Yente this morning. (He was having a yard sale and I've never had a chance to go to his house when I was invited!) He was appalled by his behavior, but has a theory that he got gun-shy (no pun intended) because he's recently divorced. Mr. Boss hasn't given up, but I told him that Mr. Nofunn is going to have to work for it if there is a second chance.

I don't have rehearsal with him for another week, and then we'll be stuck together every night and two weekends for 3 weeks. I'm not going to change a thing, and I'm not going to say anything about it. If he wants to pursue like he has the last 2 weeks, fine, but he's going to have to run farther and faster if he expects me to reciprocate at this point.

The part that really aggravates me is that I was hoping to develop a friendship. I miss having guy friends my age; once they're married everything changes. Perhaps that part can be salvaged, perhaps not. If not, I think I'll be more disappointed about that than about the dating part. We were having funn...

Dangitall, NoFunn! When I saw your thread, I was so excited for you. I have a feeling, just a feeling that he got cold feet. Granny, who was the wisest and lovliest of us all says, "Give him one more chance." If he boogers that up, we'll all bring uzis up there!
