We will have thunder of a different sort here today- it is Thunder Over Louisville today- the largest fireworks show in the USA! This is how the Kentucky Derby Festival kicks off- the next 2 weeks are filled with Derby Festival events. Also an airshow - we get the Blue Angels this year. One of the local DJ's went up with them this week and threw up.

From the website---

"Staging the pyrotechnic spectacular of Thunder each year for the Derby Festival is the First Family of Fireworks. Zambelli Fireworks Internationale first became involved with Thunder Over Louisville in 1991. The annual show is larger than the opening and closing ceremonies of the Atlanta and Barcelona Olympics combined. According to the Zambelli's it is unchallenged as the largest annual pyrotechnic production in North America.

To assemble a show the size of Thunder, Zambelli Internationale utilizes eight tractor trailers filled with nearly 60 tons of fireworks shells. The physical set-up includes 250 tons of launching tubes, some as high as 10 feet with a diameter of 1 and 1/2 feet. Two million pounds of sand will pack the firing tubes on 1,800 feet of barges. Almost 700 miles of wire cable connecting 20 firing boards are tied to the command post for synchronization to the music. This is the largest show the Zambellis perform each year and the Zambellis are the largest fireworks family in the world."

We are going this afternoon, but only because our friend lives downtown and we won't have to use the "thunderpots" (port-a-potties)! There will be 500,000 people coming into downtown and it really is nutso!

Insert smilie raising his right hand and blushing. I, too, have left my sunroof open on one car for a heavy rain storm, and unknowingly rolled down my back window on my other car with the remote clicker for another rain storm. The shop vac helped on one, and I ran the dehumidifier in the other one for a day. Get that water out quickly or else it will mildew.

Now I am scared to check my cars.

The window halfway down is going to have to cut it until I get home...Every other nite for the past year (because yes, I have done it before) I have rolled up all my windows. But not last nite. And it had to be the driver window.
  :sosad: :nono1:  :banging: :whack:  :bang:

I think I deserve all those.

I laid in bed today and listened to the rain and then the birds chirping, they are sooooooooo happy and so is my yard. (A sprinkler system just doesnt do the trick) I know vacationers want the beach but I hope it rains all weekend....
