who's going? where are you staying?
let's help them out by going to jazz fest. they need all the help they can get, betwen natural causes and elected officials. i just got off the phone with a friend, and she says the quarter is dying, no one's there. they're going out to dinner a lot to try to help out the local business owners.
and if you're for sure going to go, get a brass pass from WWOZ, insted of indiviidual tickets. helps OZ rebuild and gets reentry(big plus) and access to the OZ lounge. here's an announcement from their GM:
Happy Valentine's Day from the Crescent City!
Last week WWOZ was feeling the love in Los Angeles when the
Grammy Foundation produced a pre-Grammy event, "New Orleans
Rising" in which I had the privilege to speak to a packed house
of thousands about WWOZ.
The program featured Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Ivan Neville,
among others, and was hosted by Harry Shearer. The next day the
Grammy Foundation notified WWOZ that it was making a kick-off
contribution to WWOZ's Archive Restoration and Preservation
Project. The Foundation described itself as a "Preservation
Partner." If you watched the 48th annual Grammy Awards Show you
saw that Jazz Fest 2006, New Orleans and some of New Orleans'
own, Dr. John, Irma Thomas and Allen Toussaint figured
prominently into the on-air festivities. Read more about it on
the Grammy Foundation website:

Speaking of Jazz Fest, the date is set and we'd love to see you
there! That's right, April 28 - 30 and May 5 - 7 an historic New
Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will take place at the Fair
Grounds in New Orleans. The music line up is being finalized as
I write. Suffice it to say, Jazz Fest 2006 will be celebrated
with a spirit and vibe like no other Fest in history. Don't miss
it.
Your generous support is what keeps OZ going strong.
