Destin location is open now. We had some very tasty chicken and turkey there tonight.

I must be missing something. We tried the place in Baytowne twice and each time the service was horrible; and the food was just so-so.
There are many other BBQ places around here that are mucho better IMO.

Strictly mediocre-Jim & Nick's
My wife and I ate at the Destin location yesterday, our first-and last-time there. The most generous thing I can say is that it was strictly mediocre. My wife's baby-back ribs were burnt to a crisp, and her collard greens were so salty as to be inedible. My pulled pork plate was OK, but nothing out of the ordinary. We will not be returning.

I've heard the Jim & Nicks here in the Cordova, Germantown area does a good business and is very good.
Where is that?
The Destin location is in the Wal~Mart parking lot in the old Ruby Tuesday's building. I've had their BBQ at three separate locations and like one other poster said, they are dang proud of it. It is very mediocre and the portions are small.
There are much better places in the area, save your money.

I'm not a big meat eater, so I don't have any standing in the debate as to whose BBQ is better, but I do know this is one business that gives back to the communities that support it. They donate thousands of $$ in food to local fundraisers, give untold hours of staff time to help out schools and community gardens, etc., in towns and cities where they have restaurants.
We have always enjoyed Jim N' Nicks at Baytowne and we're sorry to see it move further away. Even for the non-barbque lovers in the group, there was always plenty of choices - salads and baked potatoes. It was a reasonable priced restaurant in Baytowne that the kids and adults could enjoy. Love the little muffins!
The local Jim N' Nicks and the owners of the chain have been outstanding supporters of many of the non-profit groups in the area. 2010 will be the 4th or 5th year that they have donated all the food and beer for the after party for the Seaside Half Marathon, that benefits the Seaside Neighborhood School. Not only do they provide the food, they also provide the staff during the event. Their contribution is enormous.
