Sounds as though all of you share my concerns. I'm still not sure if I will allow Sam to see it. She did ask. She thinks since she's 14 she can see any PG-13 movie. I told her sorry, it doesn't work that way. This weekend she saw One Last Call with her girlfriends. I wasn't thrilled but she didn't have nightmares or any long term emotional scars (that Iknow of) from it so I guess it's okay. I used to see all those scary slasher type films in high school and loved them. Wah! I just want go back to playing Polly Pockets.
Awwww, OL. :love::sosad:
NPR did quite a bit of coverage about teen pregnancy and Jamie Lynn Spears. It was an interesting program, here's a link if you want to listen:

I LOVE this movie. JK Simmons absolutely cracks me up, and Ellen Page is fantastic as the title character. I also share Maeby Funke's sentiment about the Bluth boys: seeing Michael Cera (adorable!) and Jason Bateman together again (albeit not in any of the same scenes) was almost too much.

Jennifer Garner is also wonderful.

The writing is great. Diablo Cody is one of the most in-demand writers in Hollywood right now, and it's easy to see why.

.....I want to see it again. :D

We saw this movie last night, and I can't recommend it enough.

They say it's a comedy, but I cried my eyes out. I also laughed a lot.

To address some of the concerns above, I don't think it glamorizes teenage pregnancy at all. It shows the fallout -- the ostracizing at school, the father of the baby asking someone else to prom, the horrible sadness after the birth.

The thing that keeps it from being completely gloomy is the fact that her parents are supportive. They register disappointment, but they don't humiliate her. They try to make sure the pregnancy doesn't define her life.

There were so many great performances, but I was so impressed with Jennifer Garner. There is a scene (she is playing the prospective adoptive mother) where she remarks about the miracle of the changing body, and Juno replies like a 16 year old, "Yeah, well, you should try being pregnant." Jennifer Garner plays the scene so well, her smile never fades, but her eyes wince and say "I'd give anything" and "How unfair is this whole situation" and "Poor kid" and "Don't let her see she upset me, don't mess up this meeting" all in the space of a second. I underestimated her as an actress.

I can't wait to see it. It was nominated for several Golden Globes too and I think it won something. Don't quite remember since I read the results online instead of watching on tv. :bang:

Best movie since Little Miss Sunshine! Absolutely fabulous writing and acting. Ellen Page has incredible timing and delivery, and I laughed outloud more than just a few times. I took my 12 year old, and she loved it, too. Movies like this present opportunities for discussion. The stepmom (Allison Janey's character) says that they didn't even know that Juno was sexually active. At the end, you see that Juno is still just a KID who has exhibited maturity beyond her years... and who is happy to going back to being a kid.

Thanks for your insight. I feel differently now that a few have seen it.

My kids begged me to bring them to see Juno two weekends ago. I don't get to see movies in the theater very often, but was glad to have gone to this one. A great movie -- one of those "buy the video at when it comes out to add to your collection" movies.

The writing was great, and Ellen Page just does a fantastic job with the part.

Went for the second time to see "Juno" today, which is huge for me because I have a hard enough time getting a movie at all, much less twice. Can't say enough about how good it is and how great the performances are. Every single actor in it delivers is top-notch. Any of you on this thread who have said you want to go but haven't yet...go!

wow! :shock: It must be good.

My son is still dieing to see it when he gets a chance. I'm pretty positive this will have a teen cult following.
