Left the Nooga around 2:45 pm. Everything was smoothe sailing until we hit Montgomery. (And when I say sailing that's what I mean. Wind was blowing the Burb all over the place! ) Well... we hit Montgomery around 4:15 or so and it was bumper to bumper :sosad: ! At this point I'm thinking "Oh Crap! We won't get there until tomorrow morning if we're lucky. Finally on the other side of Montgomery the traffic started moving. Ya Know... 5, 50, 85 BAM back down to 5 and so on till Georgiana. Once we hit Georgiana and 55 smoothe sailing again (this time no wind:dunno: ). We hit 331 and same thing smoothe sailing:cool: . By now the whole Otter family is hungry. So we're thinking 331 BUZZ wrong answer! Closed. No problem Angelina's BUZZ wrong answer it's boarded up:sosad: . So we pull into Grayton Beach and yep you guessed it the only restaurant open on 30A (as far as we could tell:dunno: ) The ol trusty Red Bar. Had a 20 minute wait and great food. So no report on the beach yet but nothing like pulling in after Ivan. Really couldn't tell there was a storm. (Keep in mind we didn't hit the coast till after dark.) But everything leading up to SoWal looked fine.

High Pointe looks fine. We and maybe one other unit are the only people here:blink: Kinda odd:blink: . More updates tomorrow after we hit the beach.

Enjoy the stay RO!

2 More things:

1. Dial Up SUCKS!

2. Forget what I said about not looking like there was a storm. I came in at night and really didn't see anything. BUT I just scrolled through some of Smiling JOe's pics and WOW. Looks like when the sun comes up the world will look very different.

Thanks Waterman. I'll do my best ;-)

Yesterday someone suggested cookie sheets (I thought that was you)! I hope ya'll have a great time. There's a large advantage to being there by yourselves. No crowds.

Michigan but someday in SoWal as well
The cookie sheets on the dunes could be a problem. Someone posted earlier that the dunes seem unstable right now and I'm letting all our guests know to stay away from the dunes and to definitely keep their kids away from the dunes. Stay close to the shore and enjoy the beach -- it will probably look quite nice next to the shore very soon (there's a photo of the shore at Grayton beach and (if you don't look back at the dunes) looks like it's quite beautiful. Probably the same in most beaches as long as you don't look back at the dunes! Actually, looking at the dunes will be most interesting because it's not often (thankfully) that we get to see what a hurricane can do. Just take those photos from a distance. There seem to be a few beach accesses along SoWal, so I'd stick to those even if it means a short drive. That's what we'll do when we're there next week.
