Muddle 6 - 8 mint leaves in the bottom of a glass with 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of bourbon. Pack with crushed ice. Add 2 oz of bourbon. Pack with more crushed iced. Must have a straw. This drink can last an hour. Not too late to drink mint juleps - especially if you have mint in your yard. People are going to sage and basil for cocktails too.
Since JD TN Honey is now more available, I made some with that instead of the sugar and bourbon.
My daughter has chocolate mint in her yard and used that with TN Honey.
Went to the Derby this year. Tickets from work. We were 8 rows from the rail, section 120. Looked up to our right - the Twin Spires. Across the track to our right, the winner's circle.
Since the seats were so awesome, we stayed there most of the day - left long enough to lose some money.
Record crowd. More than 160,000. Wonderful day.
