For those with dogs over the 30 pound range, do you ever get to travel with your dog?

We have a 65 pound Lab that loves to travel and does when we go to private homes, but would love to travel more with her.

She is crate trained and fully house trained but so many places won't even discuss even though they allow 2/30 pound dogs. :dunno:

I guess we need to buy an RV. ;-)

We bring our 3 to the beach every time we come here. So far, it's more common to vacation with them than without.

Do you own your place, or do you rent? If you rent where?

I take mine with me. There are dog-friendly hotels and you can find lists of them by googling "dog-friendly hotel."

I would take my 100+lb anywhere. I have even stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando with him and seen quite a few large dogs there.

I have traveled with my 85lb dog a good bit. La Quinta Inn and Suites take dogs. Most campground cottages will allow them. Once we took him on a road trip and could not find a petfriendly place so we just kept him with us all day and when we went to bed that night he slept in the car. He really likes our car though...it is like his little cave, some dogs would hate that. It may sound cruel but it beats being in a cage for a week. Just make sure he has water and the car is in a VERY shaded place. Also, get up early to get him out. As far as meals, we did take out and had picnics with him. It was nice because it forced us to stay outside alot.

I know Smiling Joe is probably going to lecture me about this but it really was fine.
