I know of four people who have told me that they had Lasik surgery and three of them turned out great, and those people were walking around and seeing well within two days. The fourth person's story was not so good. These people had the procedure soon after it became popular around 1998. I would hope that doctors have a better understanding of how to correctly complete the procedure by now. Then, only one doctor was doing Lasik in the area, Dr Richard Blue, Athens GA. Dr Blue is now even teaching laser procedures, and has expanded his business to include other offices.
As someone else said, eyesight is too important to turn one's eyes over to an inexperienced doctor. Go to the best and most practiced doctor. Ask many questions regarding his or her results and don't be timid about asking for referrals.
Good luck with your decision.
I found a link which you have to pay about $13, but you supposedly get a report on the doctor including:
Professional misconduct, if any
Specialties
Area hospital ratings
Education and training
Board certification
Address
Phone number
Patient satisfaction survey results
Comparisons to national and specialty averages
Bonus FREE access to HealthGrades Health Tools
By the way, you know there is a difference between Lasik and Lasek, eh? I believe the Lasek preserves more corneal tissue because it does not cut as deeply as the Lasik procedure.
