This is a classic troll post. Not only did you bait about half of our forum members into a confrontation by calling names and implying blame, your post is extremely insensitive and disrespectful to the victims, their families, their community, and probably many more.

Everyone else please feel free to comment without taking us to the gutter.

CNN report...

Friends mourn shooting victims
As investigators try to figure that out, Edmonson, the Louisiana State Police colonel, urged people to keep in mind the "two beautiful lives" Houser took.

A Franklin, Louisiana, native, Breaux studied at Louisiana State University-Eunice and worked at the Coco Eros boutique in Lafayette, which posted to Facebook that she was well-known, well-loved and an "amazing young woman."

Johnson, who died at a hospital after the shooting, co-owned Red Arrow, a shop in her hometown of Lafayette known for its gifts, toys and clothes. She played ukulele and guitar in a band called The Figs.

"She was a creative being," said friend Kimberly Wooten, noting that Johnson leaves behind her husband. "She made life better, from what she said ... to what she made."

The fact that she, like Breaux, are now gone is tough to grasp, especially given how they died.

"Everyone is still processing it," said Caitlin Sonnier, another friend of Johnson. "The confusion, the questions, the whys. ... It's something you don't fathom waking up to in the morning."

The common theme, once again, is crazy. Whether Aurora, or Charleston, or Lafayette, we need to get the mentally ill help in this country. Jail or the street is not the answer.

The man who killed two people and wounded nine others at a movie theater was so mentally ill and violent that years ago, his wife hid his guns and his family had him hospitalized against his will before obtaining a court order to keep him away.

EDIT: Need to check typing first.

AS I recall it was during the Reagan years that all the mental hospitals were closed and the crazies were pushed out onto the street and still remain there today living and breeding without proper care or treatment.

Oh BS! The Colorado State Hospital, primarily a mental institution, was closed way back in the late '50's. My grandfather was a patient there, though not for mental illness. At that point in time, some state hospitals cared for other long term illnesses. I do agree that we should have public supported institutions for those needing mental treatment. On another level, it would be nice if some would quit trying to blame EVERYTHING on one party or the other.

I remember. Was living in Tuscaloosa where Bryce Hospital was shut down. A major facility serving many patients from throughout the state as well as southeast. I did some practical college work there. I had some of the patients in my special education program for adults. Some patients went to nursing homes. Some to families. Some to group homes... Some just out on their own.

I remember well. I was a special education teacher and director at a university of Ala program. Federal funds and programs for educating special needs children and adults were on the chopping block as well. This is when and where I got my education in politics. It is all political.

Public special education and the right to free and appropriate education for every child was spared during this time of cutting programs and funds. But state and federal funding for young adults post high-school age was pulled. The university continued funding our programs for the time being.

Politics and political platforms matter very much.

Andy, Is it not both interesting and telling that some people have but one purpose in life it seems but to blame everything wrong in the WORLD on "right wing" conservative politics. I do not believe this will ever change and there will always be this adversarial divide between good people on both side. People killing other people in mass shootings is a threat to all of us. Why do we even try to make a political statement out of it like poppy or Jensky. I don't understand them at all. We should be asking much better questions than poppy's to start this thread. I have faith in mankind but I tell you it does sometime waiver...
