I went out at 10:30 and again at 11:30. Spent about 5-10 minutes out each time and didn't see a single one. Did anyone actually here in SoWal have any luck?
We saw a few over the bay, then went to the beach. I saw one there. One thing we lamented was the light pollution at Grayton. There is one streetlight in particular on the east side of the Red Bar that that is especially excessive. It leaves the entire boardwalk area and surrounding beach aglow in that (I think) orange Sodium light. A sidetrip to the houses around the bad light demonstrated nary a soul around Rapunzy stated "I wish I had a gun".
Beautiful stars, but I didn't see any meteors. Pitch black darkness at my house, hint, hint...house for rent down the street!! Just right for Skunky and Repunzey!! No light polution there- we are only allowed 1 60w outside light!!
I sat on the beach behin Red Bar for about an hour with a really nice couple, and we saw a few, but not the big display I think we were all expecting. It was a good time, though, and just getting to sit under the stars was nice.
when we go stargazing around here, there is so much light pollution that it takes our eyes at least 30 mins to adjust to where you can see the meteors pretty good. i am so bummed, we couldn't even see a single star much less anything else. it is always cloudy during meteor showers
Dang! I wish we had not missed it. We were on Amelia Island and had no idea, probably would have had a great view where we were. I was a bit disappointed with the Perseid meteor shower last summer. Well, there is always next year.
