Anyone that lives, works or own a business in Walton County was affected by the oil spill. The court supervised settlement is shaping up to be as bad or worse than the GCCF. The zones are ridiculous and hard to believe that loses are defined by how close a business is physcially located to the beaches. We have a physical location on Hwy 331 yet many of our customers are along 30A. We lost sales, vendors and skilled labor due to the unexpected (completely out of our projections) damages to cash flow. Many things we can project accurately and plan for but how many businesses have contingenicies for oil spills? Small business suffer the most and as far as I can tell are being left out of the settlement or are choosing not to fight this injustice. We should take every opportunity to defend ourselves against the monopolization of justice toward corporate wealth.
