Our family is currently looking at renting a LSV while we are at Blue Mountain this summer however, I am finding many different stories of the rules for these LSV and just what I can and can't do with them.

I see that some rental companies have both gas and electric. While I would like a gas powered LSV I found an article from 2010 saying that gas LSVs are not legal on 30A and would be given a ticket. Is this still the case or have the rules changed?

Also, are there any rules about roads that the LSV can't travel on (other than all roads over 35MPH)?

Remember the LSV IS a motor vehicle and 30a IS a highway! Respect the rules of the road and don't let your 8 year old drive...

The company you rent a LSV from should give you all the rules. If not, find someone else. If it has Florida license plates, it is street legal and can be driven on 30A. However, what you really need is a CURRENT map of 30a with the speed limits. They recently changed, but some sections still have part of it at 40mph. You might find there aren't too many places you can go to from Blue Mtn without finding yourself on a 40mph road. And you absolutely cannot drive it on the bike path.

Gas golf carts are not considered LSV's under Florida law. They are not permitted on the road, if an owner tells you otherwise they're lying. Plain and Simple.

You'll be fine for all points west of BMB, but you won't be able to get to Grayton or east of there.
