I wonder if ex-Gov. Palin knows that the 1st Amendment prevents the Government from abridging a citizen's speech, but doesn't ensure that a citizen's speech will not be criticized by others.

Dr. Laura's 1st Amend.rights did not cease 2exist, in spite of what Mama Grizzly tweeted.

Ugabuga, thx for pointing out something so obvious but so relevant that is evidently not being considered by the brainiac Palin.

I feel horrible for Dr. Laura and others like her who are subjected to such unfair work conditions where they can't even throw out a bunch of racial slurs without customers, employees or her employer getting all sensitive. I mean- our founding fathers must be turning over in their graves at the backlash she is receiving for her hate speech.

Whatever floats your boat I guess. I haven't given her much thought for a year and a half.

A number of unqualified people have come close to the presidency but ended up getting filtered out through the process. You shouldn't get so worked up about it. Heck we narrowly averted John Kerry, John Edwards and Dennis Kucinich lost in the primaries, and John McCain lost the general election. The system works, for the most part. (I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong with George Bush though. ;-))

And I'm still trying to figure out what made so many voters vote for Obama...

While I don't pretend to understand what is going on in Glenn Beck's mind, I think he's upset because rich white people can't make as much money as they use to. That's his idea of "civil rights". It may have more to do with the rich white people that caused the economic collapse of '07 and '08, than any "civil rights" he thinks has been usurped by the present administration. Regardless of any resemblance to meaningful dialogue, the pairing of Palin and Beck should be a hoot to see.

I am surprised Beck did not go with his original plan of having that rally on King's Birthday--he says it would be a way to actually 'honor" Dr. King.
