The fact the you submitted a Formal Complaint speaks volumes.
If others did the same, we might get somewhere.
Most County Employees (city too), are simply job scared and don't want to be involved. They either go along to get along, or just cover their eyes and ears.
It's actually pretty sad.
Not to combine 2 separate issues but the City is OUT 1/2 million dollars and counting because of the actions of 2 elected officials. One (1) the 1/4 of a million dollars in lost one cent sales tax money because the Mayor failed to report the certified mail he received NINE different times to anyone on the Council and Two (2) the Police Chief who wrongly terminated 2 officers on 2 different occasions.
Our illustrious City Attorney, Clayton Adkinson in both incidents should have gone to the State Attorney's office and demanded an investigation but did not.
City employees were absolutely job scared which is why the officers from the PD brought in the Union. It was that event that set the wheels in motion for their own termination. While Weeks would have people believe the Arbitrator made no findings in that regard and he was cleared of those allegations the FACT is, the Arbitrator was not charged with determining whether or not this was politically motivated, she was charged with determining whether or not the 2 officers were wrongfully terminated. They were! They have been reinstated. The timeline of those events would lead a prudent person to believe that yes in fact their firings were politically motivated. Clayton Adkinson advised the City Council not to let this go to Arbitration in my opinion because he knew those officers were wrongfully terminated and also knew subsequent lawsuits could/would follow.
It's also my opinion that Clayton Adkinson failed to act in the best interest of the City and the taxpayers and offered bad legal advice to Council when he told them "there was nothing that could be done about the 1/4 million dollars in one cent sales tax money but that he would "try to go after Joe Brown". What Adkinson should have done was taken this to the State Attorney and its become abundantly clear to me he was more interested in trying to protect Mayor Campbell.
Mr. Adkinson told me recently at a City Council meeting that he works for the Council..well Mr. Adkinson, this is just a gentle reminder that your salary comes from taxpayer money and ANY subsequent actions taken by the taxpayers to recoup our losses is a direct reflection of your poor legal advice and your unwillingness to hold elected officials accountable. Your claims that Mark Weeks can't be held accountable and who our City Charter says Mark Weeks answers too are 2 entirely different things.
The "wall" that has been built to protect wrongdoing must come down.
