In Montgomery, they usually have a unit parked a couple blocks up from the roadblock for the sole purpose of pulling over the folks turning around. They got me one time. The road block was 3 houses down from mine so I went around the block to get in my own driveway and he got me.
They do those roadblocks here to "check for proof of insurance" but they usually haul off a ton of folks for outstanding warrants.
That had to be a bayd day. I know someone else who got pulled in their own driveway.....two people actually (one in SC and one here). I hope you didn't go to the pokey.I think the time of day comes into play as well. I once was stopped on a two lane country back road in the middle of the day for 'license and registration' check. These checks are normal during daylight hours. What scared me was that I was speeding (as I usually do) and had to seriously lock the brakes or run over some Georgia State Patrolmen......or, some cows. Patrolman asked me to slowdown. I did.
The blocks at night here are by DUI Task Force and State Patrol.....and, they are after the slightest smell of liquor. And, then there is the 'fugitive' block where they can and will search your car if there is a dangerous person loose for some reason and your car happens to match the description. If something looks fishy, expect to be detained for a bit.
