As I sit here, listening to Christmas carols on the stereo, I realize that while it is Christmas morning, it is also a time for both joyous and serious reflection.
Christmas, even more so than Thanksgiving, is a time to not only worship our Lord, if you are so inclined, but also a time to give thanks for all the myriad of things, people and feelings this one has received, not only this year but all the past years and years to come.
To cite a few but far from all, I give thanks that my lovely wife of soon to be 29 years is still here to share the holiday season. We really did not expect that and thank God for it. I give thanks that I have been lucky enough to be born an American and live in a country that allows all of us to agree and disagree about so many things and still respect one another.
I give thanks that I am fortunate enough to live in what is literally paradise, Blue Mountain Beach and SoWal.
I give thanks for all my SoWal compatriots, both those with whom I so often agree and also those I do not. It is a wonderful place to express your feelings, thoughts and solutions to the problems of the world, though you are well aware your solutions will have little or no effect on various situations.
So to all who may read this, it is my sincere wish that you not only have a Merry Christmas but also that the New Year bring you all that you may wish, work and yearn for. The best possible to all.
