A state of mind...........
:clap:bravo. I tried to give you some rep, but ....

It is indeed a state of mind. As I was reading an email from a friend of mine, this morning, I began to think, it just doesn't get any worse than her recent trying times, but she is somehow able to keep it all in perspective, and put her experience into words of wonder. I'll share it with you guys later. Reading her email help you see that what we may think is misery, is really not that miserable.

Thanks, SJ. I faced having the world as I know it turned upside down about three years ago. I found a journal I kept during that time, where I wrote at least ten things every night that I had to be grateful for and the things I listed might surprise some. I listed things that others might find negative, such as being grateful for the things and people that had moved out of my life, and people who had intentionally or unintentionally caused me pain or vice versa, because I had to learn that sometimes people and things must go to make space for the new to enter. It was a time that has given me perspective now to understand what misery is and to differentiate misery from the ever changing pattern of life and how to find joy and strength in uncertainty. I have learned sometimes what we think is misery is an opportunity to grow in disguise. It was a lesson I needed to learn.

I feel like I have already shared too much but I wanted to add one thing about noticing signs in your life. During one of the toughest days I can remember I was sitting on my front porch and I heard a noise. I looked to see the biggest Vulture I had ever seen perched on my picket fence gate. I said to the Vulture, "You can move along, I'm not dead yet," he spread his wings and flew away. I later looked up this bird and his meaning in Native American folklore. They are not seen as negative creatures, as they are deemed in our society. They are agents of renewal and the cycle of life.
