moving to south walton?

One thing you may want to consider is the people.
My wife and I were originally looking to build a second home in La Jolla. After taking many trips out, and spending a lot of time in the area we changed our mind.
It's a beautiful place with a lot of fun things to do. But the people are cold and have an attitude.
We have since bought property and a house in South Walton. The area is breathtaking and the people are friendly and fun loving.
There certainly is not near as many things to do, but the friendships you will make will more than make up for it!

Having lived in California (Monterey - very beautiful part of California with wonderful restaurants and fun things to do) I agree with Skerm that the people are a very important aspect to consider. From my experience the folks in Sowal just seem to be more friendly and family oriented. There will not be as much to do of course as in your more developed parts of the country but I have found that not to be as important as the people that you surround yourself with. That is just my two cents. Good luck in making your decison. By the way, the two places that I have lived but have no desire to move back to are coastal California and South Florida and for the same reason - people, people, people.

Concerts? We have concerts.. every Friday night in Seaside. Seriouly we have been to several concert/events in Pensacola and Tallahassee has them as well. And as far as parks, what about that big sandy thing that sits next to the gulf. That is my favorite park of all. This is a wonderful place to raise a family..a true loving community.
