This jsut about sums up my weekend. I bought tons of flowers to plant yesterday. Decided I should clean out the beds in the back before planting. It was about two hours in that I remembered I didn't clean out the beds last spring. I always leave the leaves until spring to serve as mulch during the winter. Two years...big mistake.
Monkey grass took over. Neighbors asian jasmine vine took over. Virginia creeper took over. Leaves were wet and tons of them. Bamboo grew 6 inches while I was out there!!! I did see several tiny frogs..
No snakes, thank goodness. It was a jungle I tell ya! After the torrential rain yesterday and last night, it was a mud hole as well. I was covered--and so were my crocs!:yikes:
Half the yard done, the worst half. I'll try to finish this week and finally plant all those flowers.
That was my weekend, how was yours? I have to go to bed now.

I would pay money to garden and get absolutely filthy right now.

My weekend? Like the last 6 months of weekends. I am Gladys in your siggy line- "I love Jesus but I drink a little."

 I'd pay you money to come here and garden. I'm so sore this morning, I could barely climb the stairs. Ok....so I'm a little out of shape.

I was a mess.

So, bloody hell. Did you plant pansies while the Dallas Cowboys practice field was being blown to smitherings last night? And, are you okay.

:lol:No....it was black as night just before that happened, so I called it a day at that point. Who knew what was happening just down the road.

Hey there, I was in the garden too -- fertilizing my herb spiral, nasturtiums and seedlings; taking care of laying hens (2) and new baby chicks (4), and watching with amazement as one of my hens (George) hunted, captured and at a small frog! I had no idea! She also defended her catch successfully from the other hen (Hollandaise) who tried in vain to get a bite.

The rest of the time I was detailing my kitchen (it was really gross), then making gallons of sauerkraut. Shoulder is sore from so much chopping!

Oh yeah, and there was the Saturday market at Seaside, 8-12. Really good stuff there, and new vendors showing just about every week. It is worth going to watch Chandra and her daughter demo their rocking handmade hula hoops -- they make it into a lovely graceful dance instead of the spastic gyrations of hoopers like yours truly! Oh and this really prolific gardening couple from Freeport comes now, selling plants they started from seed. All organic, and the fellow is a fountain of information about natural methods of gardening. Wish I could recall his name.

Sounds funn, DD! Send pics of your garden when you are finished.....gardening truly is a labor of love, but so rewarding!

I have some neighbor vines I need to take care of as well.....maybe this week sometime between rains. We are getting all of that glorious rain now from y'all.

I discovered a leak, internal and visceral.....will be ripping out walls/ceiling on this one! Can't use my kitchen......OH THE JOYS of home ownership.......especially, an older home!

Worker fixing me up today.....I think have some left over sheetrock somewhere!

I was gardening friday morning - for some reason I woke up hours earlier than planned so I watered a bunch of stuff, harvested some herbs and lettuce for lunch, put bonemeal in my container gardens, trimmed the dead stuff off, and planted some new lettuce blends and sweet peas (the flowers).

My socks will never be the same (as I did all this in my pjs and the socks I wear around the house instead of shoes)!
