I guess I went to the show thinking that it would highlight both acts, and it highlighted only John Hiatt. I like the NMA and JH, individually. Also, I think the sound was aweful. Perhaps too much asphalt. They played in a big parking lot in front of a big hotel, and had a crappy sound tech to boot!
Mike Gordon, of Phish, and the well-known singer songwriter, Leo Koetke, have an album out, entitled Clone (?). It is a great combination featuring both artists' songs. It is one of my favorites at the moment. I guess I was hoping that the NMA and JH would be as great working together, but I missed the funkyness of the NMA. It was like any band could have been playing for John. Not all was lost at the venue because I saw so many great performances, including a small town, unknown artist who has a couple of CDs, which you can sample online at

I highly recommend purchasing a CD. He has something unlike most artists today, and seems like a really cool guy too. RiverOtter, for some reason I think you will really enjoy his music.
