OK - who knows how many green chiclets it takes to overcome 1 red chiclet?

That depends on who is giving the rep and who is giving the red rep.
Those that have more green squares are able to give higher power rep than someone with lesser. So if you want to cancel out a red square you need someone with lots of green squares.
However if someone that has lots of green squares gives you the "red" chiclet you are in deep doo, doo.
