In case any of you are looking for a haint blue, the painters did the upper porch ceiling in "Jetstream" today. I think if I had to do it again, I'd pick the next darker color on the paint fan. But these guys have tried about 10 colors, so I didn't have the heart to ask them for another re-do.

Dear BR,

You might be overthinking this. See below. "Haint blue" is whatever color of pale blue or gray you may have leftover from painting the bathroom/bedroom/boudoir. If your leftover paint is too dark, mix it with the white paint you have leftover from painting the bathroom/bedroom/boudoir. If it is too light, then it's the color of a slightly hazy or overcast sky. Most haints have been around long enough not to be too picky about the weather.

How coincidental is this thread! We are having our house painted. Our architect from New Orleans renovated Oak Alley near NOLA and gave us the formulas from that house. None of these formulas that we've used since we built the house work now because everything has gone digital. We contacted the firm he established (he died in 1993), and they were able to help us with every color except the haint blue. The chief architect of the firm told us that haint blue is the color of the sky on a clear day. He said it's different in GA than in NOLA or in North Carolina or anywhere else. He suggested that we take a color fan, hold it to the sky, and choose the color that matches it the best. We picked Benjamin Moore's "Jetstream."

So, Lynnie, get yourself some haint blue, and it will chase off the evil spirits and the wasps.

OK - not sure where the Haints are, but they are probably a little concerned with this thread. Had spend the night guests last night and no one noticed anything strange except for ourselves! I didn't tell them first. You know, some people just can't handle any kinda Haint.

I digg the bottle tree, but will that keep future Haints away? I like my current Haints.......

Hail, I don't know. It probably only works on haints that are "trying" to come in--not the ones already there. That there is my most expert advice on the subject of haints.
