The paths are way off. I was in northwest Osceola county during Charley and the eye came right over my house exactly as shown on this map:

It then went right up into Orange County and later hit Volusia. All 3 are blue counties on your map.

I want to make something very clear here. I did not create that map, I found it online several months ago on a consumer and political information webpage.

Have you noticed all of the solicitations for auto insurance which have been coming in the mail, largely from the big companies who won't write homeowner's policies in the area anymore?

Do NOT buy any other insurance from a company who offers HO policies in other states/areas, but will not write your policy here. If you have auto, boat, or any other policies with these companies, cancel them and tell the agent why. There are plenty of companies who write only auto policies.

Just two days ago, I saw a State Farm commercial (I live at the beach) reassuring homeowners that they will be here when you need them. :rotfl: Yeah, right!

(Maybe SoWalSally will be kind enough to post the full article)
The Walton Sun has an article, on p A6 in yesterday's edition, titled, "Some new areas now in the wind-borne debris line," which shows the new map, which changed Aug 22, requiring impact resistant doors and windows south of the new line. All of SoWal now require to handle 130 mph winds. From the north side of the Bay to many miles north of Freeport, the new construction will have to be able to handle 120mph loads. In many areas, the new line is north of I-10.

I feel fairly certain that insurance companies will be using the new lines in determining whether or not they will insure the homes built prior to Aug 22, 2006 in these two newly defined areas. :bang: Talk about making it difficult to sell your home! It is already difficult to sell a home in SoWal, add to that, many insurance companies will not insure homes older than those built in 2003, when the building requirements changed. Now they have moved the line way the F up there. Don't get me wrong, I think it is good to have better built homes in the future. It will certainly save people money when they don't have to rebuild after the storms roll in, but for everyone who has an existing home (speaking primarily for NoWal), I think they are getting the Royal Shaft up the ....
